Waikato A&P Show

The Waikato A&P Show has been an iconic event in the Waikato Since 1892. It has a rich history of animal Showing and judging, intertwined with Home Industry food & craft competitions. The Show has grown and evolved over the years, and while showing is at the heart of it, it is an event for the whole family.

Every year we have hundreds of people come to exhibit their animals and thousands of families throughout the North Island visiting the show over the three days.

 

What's on Offer

The A&P Show hosts a range of animal showing and judging, trade, craft and food stalls, and a variety of entertainment ranging from classic woodchopping to traditional Highland and Irish dance groups and modern entertainers. The 2018 Show featured performances from Craig Smith, the creator of the Wonky Donkey book and other popular children’s series.

Special event: Schools' Day Out

There is a specially designed programme on Friday of the Show for schools who pre-register, that takes students through New Zealand's agricultural & pastoral industries. With a variety of learning stations ranging from Vet Talks, to live milking demonstrations, the classic Farmyard and environment protection & management.
We welcome interest from businesses who are eager to partner with us in growing the Schools’ Day Out.
2018 saw 1000 pre-registered children attended with 230 teachers & parents, from 25 schools in the Waikato.

Special Event: Hooves, Hats & Heels

A unique event, Hooves, Hats & Heels had its Inaugural year at the 2018 show. The Dual Code Racehorse to Ridden Horse, Horses & High Fashion Extravaganza. It’s described as Cup Day glamour paired with stunning equines, Thoroughbreds vs Standardbreds. 2018 saw the Thoroughbreds take home the prestigious title of Overall Champion. It was a highly successful event that will become a corner piece to the Show.
